Do the folks at Brooks Running think it’s better to listen to music or a podcast when you run, or go “natural” and just listen to your own body?

  2. Abi Wise June 6, 2012 at 11:07 am #

It redirected me here- so I hope I am leaving the question in the right place!

To Brooks Running: “I love running, but after a few months of doing it consistently I always end up with IT band issues. Do you have any suggestions to prevent this from happening?”

  3. abilynne June 6, 2012 at 11:09 am #

Every time I start seriously getting into running again, my IT band starts aching and I have to stop. Any suggestions to keep that injury at bay?

I’m loving the look of the new Brooks PureProject shoes, but I don’t know which is the best pair for me. Which is the best for great stability and cushion?

I started my running journey wearing Nike Free 2.0 and find anytime I try a shoe with more support I have leg pains. My Nike’s wear out way to fast, is there a Brooks shoe that is similar to the minimalist bare foot running style but still provides support?

  6. Elizabeth Hilliard June 6, 2012 at 11:40 am #

I’ve been running competitively for about 7 years now and I’m still having trouble finding one shoe that works well for me. What would you suggest I should do to find the right shoe?

  7. Katelyn McElhare June 6, 2012 at 11:49 am #

    To Brooks Running,

I have very flat feet and hammer toes from my years of bare foot gymnastics and cheerleading in too tight of sneakers. I also have Renaud’s Syndrome and my feet get very cold and turn purple if my shoes are too snug. I would like to start running, but I never can find a good sneaker to give me enough support to complete an effective workout. I find my knees hurt when my shoes do not support my feet enough. What sneaker would you suggest for my situation so that I can feel comfortable and confident when I start running more often?

    • YogaInHeels June 6, 2012 at 11:52 am #

Katelyn! I have Raynaud’s Syndrome, too! I’ve been wearing Brooks since I started running! I hope the Brook’s staff can help you out!

It directed me back to your page, so I hope this is the right spot!-

Hola, Brooks Running! I’ve signed up for my first FULL marathon on January 13. I am beyond scared and excited at the same time. Do you have any tips for me? I plan to try not to lose any toe nails ;o)

I am running a full marathon on 10/21. I really want to complete an ultra (50k) as well. Do you think doing those two events within a few weeks of each other is too much?

  10. caitlin June 6, 2012 at 12:10 pm #

I am just beginning to run, what is better C25K or Jeff Galloway? I have been bouncing between both because C25K seems to move more quickly. Do you know of any other good training programs?

I used to run every day, right up until my son was born! I’ve been running sporadically over the past year and I just got a jogging stroller last month. I want to get out there more often, but do you have any advice for making running with a jogging stroller easier? Thanks!!

  13. heidi June 6, 2012 at 1:54 pm #

To Brooks running: I am beginning to train for my first marathon. I do nearly all of my long runs on trails and several of my shorter mileage runs on pavement. Should I run in different shoes for each terrain?

  14. Emma June 6, 2012 at 2:01 pm #

I hate running. Absolutely HATE IT. But, I would really like to make it more enjoyable for me. Is there a program for easing myself into a good running routine?

I’m training for my first half-marathon in September – any tips on gear or training? Thanks!

  16. Carla PLOUIN (@cplouin) June 6, 2012 at 5:21 pm #

I am tall and have flat feet, so running hasn’t been an activity or first choice even if it always sounds attractive… until I do it, and am reminded that it might not be for me. Why do I find the boredom and uncomfortableness to overpower the adrenaline? When doing kickboxing or zumba, I remain in the happy place for hours. Why running stops it after a few minutes?

  17. Carla PLOUIN (@cplouin) June 6, 2012 at 5:23 pm #

What is the hype about the toe shoes? Are they really that much more comfortable onces passed the habit adjustment?

  18. Mandy Mash June 6, 2012 at 5:53 pm #

To Brooks Running: I run about 2-3 times a week in order to stay in shape. I usually only buy new running shoes when my old ones are worn out. How often do you suggest to buy new running shows? And what kind do you recommend for people with high arches? Thanks!

  19. Amber June 6, 2012 at 9:01 pm #

What is the best way to deal with minor shin splints? Is stretching, strengthening, and new inserts (arch supports) enough to begin running right away?

  20. Bela Lugosi June 7, 2012 at 9:12 am #

How fast do I need to run and how often? I want to make cellulite less visible, and I want to do it in a month. 🙂

    • YogaInHeels June 7, 2012 at 12:14 pm #

From my research, water is cellulite’s worst enemy! Start drinking more water!!

  27. Laura Lynch June 9, 2012 at 8:51 pm #

i have flat feet and pretty sure i over pronate. I’m just a beginner and don’t know much about running or form, but I’m afraid I have terrible form since when i try to run for longer my hips start hurting. is this because my body is just not used to running much or does it have something to do with having the right shoes or the right stretches?

  28. curliecue15 June 9, 2012 at 8:54 pm #

my computer glitches and i’m not sure my question posted when i commented on the page the link sent me to….so just in case: i have flat feet and pretty sure i over pronate. 31. Heather C. June 11, 2012 at 1:28 pm #

Hey Brooks experts! I run in Ravenia 3s and love them. I need the stability, but would like to move to more of a minimal shoe because, well, they come in the coolest colors. If I need stability, is there a minimal shoe that will be comfortable for me and if so, how do I start to make the transition?
