From Gym to Street: What’s the easiest way to transition?

2 Nov

Many of us hit the gym or yoga and find ourselves spending the rest of the day in our workout gear, but wearing our sneakers all day isn’t always the cutest thing. What happens if you run into your ex looking like a goofball in your running shoes? Didn’t our mother’s tell us, “Always look your best, you never know who you’re going to meet!” Yours didn’t? Oh, mine did, and it’s something that I live by. Lucky for me I am always wearing my workout makeup, so I always look semi-put together.

If there’s one thing my ex knows, it’s that he will never see me looking bad coming from a workout. Because of that, I always carry an extra pair of shoes. Shoes are the easiest way to transition your workout gear to street wear in under a minute.

You want to choose your street shoes based on the look you are going for and how much coverage you have on top.

Staying in all workout gear, just leggings and a tank? Go for a pair of ballet flats or cute sandals. Embellishment always adds a little oomph and Louboutins are just show stopping…NEVER put on heels.

Wearing a tunic or longer top over leggings? Or it’s cold out and you have on a long coat? Throw on boots or booties! Heels or flats work here. You’ve got your booty covered, so you can wear flashier shoes. I always choose a great riding boot or over the knee boot. If I’m really feeling like a fashionista I’ll throw on a lace up wedge like this one from Steve Madden:

Wearing pants? Stick with driving loafers, like these Tory Burch, or ballet flats no matter what else you are wearing with it, metallic always dresses it up. If you are wearing a VERY skinny flare, you can wrap the flare around your ankle and turn the pant into a legging in order to wear boots.

PLEASE, for the love of all things fashionable stop sticking your wide leg pants into UGGs. Fashion FAUX PAS!

So next time you decide to stay in your workout gear all day, just change your shoes. You never know who you might run into, your ex or the love of your life!

Skirted Leggings: Do or Don’t?

28 Oct

After posting about lace, I thought I would sticky with the fashion forward and talk about skirted leggings (aka SKeggings). Personally, I love them, they make everyone’s butt look so stinkin’ cute!

Here are a few options with different skirt and legging options for all you fitness-istas out there!

ROGIANI Transformable Skirt:

On Wednesday I talked about the lace skirt on the leggings. If you aren’t bold enough to go for the lace, the solid skirt is just as cute. I also have one of these! Accents the booty just enough, but also gives plenty of coverage. Perfect for any trip to the mall.

Skirt Sport Lotta Breeze

For those of you looking for something a little less fitted, Skirt Sport is where you want to be. Fitted more generously for those with larger hips, the Lotta Breeze Skegging also has pockets on each hip which is great for putting your iPod or other things in. This skegging does have a very athletic look to it, I don’t know if it could double as everyday wear, but it’s still cute enough to pretend you went for a run!

Skirt Sport Tough Girl Skirt

Skirt on top of pants….I guess you could call it a SKant? Sounds kind of lame, but I digress. Great option for those of you who want to balance out your hips or really don’t like leggings. It’ actually REALLY cute on…Promise.

All of these are 100% functional for the gym, too! So hit the treadmill and then the mall! No one will ever know our secrets!

I’ll grab a picture of me wearing mine this weekend and post it here! Follow me on twitter to make sure you see it first! (@YogainHeels)
